We had a busy day in 6th class making St. Brigid’s crosses using rushes.
We also had a special visit from Fr Charlie to talk about St. Brigid and show us some of the crosses he made!
First class celebrated St Brigids Day by listening to stories from author Caroline Busher. We wrote about St Brigid’s cloak and we learned about the meaning of the St Brigids Cross. A granny of one of the students made a special St Brigids Cross for our classroom.
First class are keeping fit and healthy during Wellbeing Week with Dare to Believe Olympic Movement Breaks. For our Active School Flag challenge this term, an Irish Olympian who will compete in the Paris Olympics this summer teaches us skills in their sport. Loads of fun.
Today we experimented with marla to see if we could make a boat that floats and hold ‘passengers’. We had a few successful voyages and many sinking Titanics! But we had great fun trying!! We also made rice crispy buns with marshmallows. Delicious! 😋 We’ll put our memory to the test on Monday and do some procedural writing on making the buns.
Well done 5th class who presented their five business ideas to the Dragons. Also a thank you to our Dragons: Seàn Kinsella (Mirai Medical), Paula Whyte (Delight cafès) and Ms. Meeneghan who offered great entrepreneurial feedback to the teams. The boys are looking forward to making their business idea a reality by bringing Magnetic Memories to life!
5th class enjoyed a visit to the library last week, our first of many this term. We browsed and chose many of our favourite authors to bring back to school with us. We are looking forward to the next visit!
5th class have been learning all about The Human Body. We researched and presented our work in many forms, including creating slides on the Chromebooks, exploring enquiry questions, a bacteria experiment and we even created the inside of a Human Body in 3D! A great start to 2024!
We have been learning about different materials in our recent science lessons. We created a solid bone structure by mixing two liquids together and creating a chemical reaction to form a solid. The boys also enjoyed learning about the importance of calcium and vitamin D in our diets.
